With the rapid urbanization and the aging of population in China,pet ownership and related-spending are among the fastest growing markets. In recent years, the number of animal clinic in China has increased dramatically. Demands for small animal veterinary medicine, advanced technology in diagnostic and therapeutics, and new experience and expertise are huge in the China and surrounding regions.

The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine affects the lives of animals and people every day through educational, research, service, and outreach programs. We are dedicated to the education of future and current veterinarians and bio-medical scientists and the discovery of new knowledge and skills, which are generally recognized at home and abroad. The college has graduated nearly 4,000 veterinarians and hundreds of scientists.

Starting in 2012, the University of Minnesota has organized the Leman China Swine Conference and the China Dairy Conference & World Dairy Industry Expo. The Conference presented the latest developments on swine and dairy research and production, disease surveillance and control, integration of production and public health, and their impacts on the global economy to China.

To continue its global continuing education efforts and to the development of small animal industry, the University of Minnesota will organize the University of Minnesota International Small Animal Veterinary Conference and Expo (MSAVC) on June 27-29, 2016 in Nanjing International Exhibition Center, Nanjing, China.The conference will invited renowned speakers in the areas of small animal disease, diagnostics, and therapeutics, nutrition, and breeding from North America and around the world to present the latest knowledge and technologies to conference participants.

Registration fees include all conference sessions and materials, three lunches, one dinner, one reception, and all coffee/tea breaks.

Cancellation and Refund

Cancellations with full refund need to be made prior to August 31, 2017. Cancellation received between September 1 to October 31, 2017 will incur a 15% processing fee. No refund will be made after October 31, 2017.

Call for Poster Presentation

The conference features a poster session for participants to present their ideas, research, and development activities in areas covered by the event topics. A poster display place of 4 feet by 4 feet will be provided for each poster presentation. Posters will be displayed during the two-day event.

All registrants are eligible to submit a poster. Young researchers and graduate students are especially encouraged to submit and present posters at the Leman-China Swine Conference. The poster session will be an important opportunity to build your knowledge and network with attendees from diverse sectors of the swine industry.

Poster Submission

All poster presenters need to register for the conference. Suggested poster components include as abstract, materials and methods, key findings, conclusions, industry implications, etc. However, other format is also acceptable depending on the contents presented.

Recommended poster language is English. Poster in Chinese with English abstract are also accepted.

Please follow these instructions to submit a poster abstract:

  • Single page, one inch margins, two columns Word document

  • Times New Roman font, 11 point

  • Headings must include title, authors, and affiliations (centered)

  • Single space, blank line between paragraphs

  • No page numbers

Submission Deadline; August 31, 2016

Submit via email to Frank Liu, liuxx063@umn.edu. All submissions are due August 31 via email and are subsequently reviewed by an academic committee. Authors are notified if their abstract is accepted for poster presentation by September 15. Acceptance of abstract does not include complimentary conference registration. All accepted abstracts will be printed as an addendum to the conference proceedings.
